The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.
Further information about Herschel, his correspondence, and the editorial method is available online here: http://historydb.adlerplanetarium.org/herschel/?p=intro
No texts of Herschel’s letters are currently available through Ɛpsilon.
The eclipse observation suggestions are now ready for printing [see GA's 1851-1-7]; would JH proof read them?
Will send the eclipse observation suggestions in print, not manuscript [see JH's 1851-3-8]; the path of the eclipse has been misrepresented by J. F. Encke's carelessly identified latitudes.

About transferring the Melbourne University funds into a trust account managed by the rest of the committee [see JH's 1855-3-23].
Is trying to clear up matters related to Melbourne University [see JH's 1855-7-8].
The end of the Melbourne University business seems happily now at hand [see JH's 1855-9-27].

Comments on a contract to be used by the Mint, for its coin manufacturers.
Reports on observations made of one of the Mint's potential contractors [see GA's 1851-4-29].
Appear to be answers to specific queries about examinations and tutors [at Cambridge?].

A note to accompany the forwarding of some papers.
Believes that the observations that concern JH [see JH's 1853-2-7] with respect to the moon's orbit do not argue for Venusian effects, but GA finds [G.] Seyffarth's writings disturbing, too.
