Melbourne 26th August 1870.

Sir,

I am directed by the Chief Secretary to request that you will have the goodness to forward to this office at your earliest convenience an Estimate of your Revenue and Expenditure for the first six months of 1871.

The Commissioner of Public Works being also desirous of obtaining the Estimate of the requirements as regards Works and Buildings for the same period, I have to request you will be good enough him1 with that from your Department not later than the 30th proximo.
