Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton, 2d Marquess of Northampton (1790–1851)

Patron of science and the arts. MP for Northampton, 1812–20. President of the Royal Society, 1838–48. Succeeded his father as second marquess of Northampton, 1828. FRS 1830.
