Richard Dawes (bap. 1793 d. 1867)
Clergyman and educationist. Mathematical tutor and bursar of Downing College, Cambridge, 1818–36. Rector of King’s Somborne, Hampshire, 1837–50; dean of Hereford, 1850; master of St Catherine’s Hospital, Ledbury, 1861. Founded schools for the children of the poor and took an interest in Ledbury’s national schools.
