James Dixon (1814–96)

Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon. One of the original fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons. Assistant surgeon, St Thomas’s Hospital, London, 1847–51. Consulting surgeon to the Royal Ophthalmic Hospital. As a leading ophthalmic surgeon, he also had a large private practice until his retirement in 1870.
