William Alexander Anthony Archibald Douglas, 11th Duke of Hamilton (1811–63)

Succeeded to dukedom in 1852. Held the offices of knight marischal of Scotland, lord-lieutenant of Lanarkshire, and colonel of the Lanarkshire Militia. Major-commandant of the Glasgow Yeomanry, 1849–57. Grandmaster of the society of freemasons.
