John Wiley Edmands (1809–77)

American merchant and congressman. Representative in Congress from Massachusetts, 1853–5. Founded a public library at Newton, Massachusetts. Presided at the banquet held in Boston in honour of Charles Wilkes, captain of the San Jacinto, for his part in the "Trent affair".
