Frederic William Farrar (1831–1903)

Clergyman and headmaster. Assistant master at Harrow school, 1855–70; appointed master of Marlborough College, 1871. Canon of Westminster, 1876–95. Dean of Canterbury, 1895–1903. Promoted scientific education. Noted for his school stories, writings on language, and biographies of Christian figures. FRS 1866.
