Samuel Fox (1765–1851)

Manufacturer. Ran a silk hosiery business in Derby. A founding member of the Derby Philosophical Society, 1783. Friend of Erasmus Darwin. Married Ann Darwin, daughter of William Alvey Darwin, as his second wife in 1799. Leased Osmaston Hall near Derby from 1814. Justice of the peace. Father of William Darwin Fox.
