Elieser Lazarus Salomon (Lazarus) Geiger (1829–70)
German linguist. Studied linguistics and philosophy at the Universities of Bonn, Heidelburg, and Marburg, 1847–9. Private tutor in Frankfurt am Main from 1850, and teacher of German, mathematical geography, and Hebrew at a Jewish school there from 1861. Wrote on the origin and development of language.
