Georg von Giźycki (1851–95)

German philosopher. His doctoral thesis was Versuch über die philosophischen Consequenzen der Goethe-Lamarck-Darwin’schen Evolutionstheorie (1875). Professor extraordinarius at the University of Berlin. Positivist, inspired by the empiricist writings of David Hume. Founded the Deutsche Gesellschaft für ethische Kultur in 1892; members included Ernst Haeckel and Ludwig Büchner. Wrote on Hume, Darwinism and ethics, and Kant and Schopenhaur.
