Augustus Charles Gregory (1819–1905)

Explorer and surveyor in Australia. First commissioner of crown lands, Queensland, 1859–63; surveyor-general, 1859–79. Appointed to the Legislative Council in 1882. Strong critic of the government. President of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, 1895. Knighted, 1903.
