Hudson Gurney (1775–1864)

Antiquary and verse-writer. Inherited a banking fortune from his father. MP for Shaftesbury, 1812; for Newtown, Isle of Wight, 1816–31. High sheriff of Norfolk, 1835. Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, 1818; vice-president, 1822–46. FRS 1818.
