Oswald Heer (1809–83)

Swiss biogeographer, palaeontologist, and botanist. An expert on Tertiary flora. Lecturer in botany, University of Zurich, 1834–5; director of the botanic garden, 1834; professor extraordinarius, 1835–52; professor of botany and entomology, 1852–83.
