Charles Auguste Benjamin Hippolyte (Auguste) Houzeau de Lehaie (1832–1922)

Belgian professor and politician. Brother of the astronomer Jean-Charles Houzeau. Studied in Paris, 1844–8, Mons, and Brussels. Professor of political economy, School of Mines, Mons, 1870–1905. Mayor of Hyon, 1867–78; member of the Council of Mons, in charge of state education, 1882–84; sat for Mons in the Chamber of Representatives, 1878–94.
