Robert Bakewell (1725–95)

Stockbreeder and farmer. Farmed at Dishley, Leicestershire. Improved breeds of sheep and cattle. Produced the new Leicestershire breed of sheep, the Leicestershire longhorn, and a breed of black horses. Improved grassland by watering.
