James Jameson (1837–1904)

Scottish surgeon. Educated at Glasgow University; LRCS, Edinburgh, 1857; MD, Glasgow, 1865. Entered the army as staff assistant surgeon, 1857; surgeon, 1870; surgeon major, 1873; brigade surgeon, 1883; deputy surgeon general, 1888. Director-general of the Army Medical Department, 1896–1901. FRCS 1900. Knighted, 1896.
