Thomas Rupert Jones (1819–1911)

Geologist and palaeontologist. Medical assistant, 1842–50. Appointed assistant secretary of the Geological Society of London, 1855; editor of the Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society, 1850–65. Lecturer on geology, Royal Military College, Sandhurst, 1858–62; professor of geology, 1862–80. An authority on Entomostraca and Foraminifera. FRS 1872.
