Joseph Gottlieb Kölreuter (1733–1806)

German botanist. Assistant keeper of the natural history collections, Imperial Academy of Sciences, St Petersburg, 1756–61. Professor of natural history and director of the gardens of the margrave of Baden, Karlsruhe, 1763–86. Carried out extensive hybridisation experiments on plants.
