James Digues La Touche (1824–99)

Irish cleric, tutor, geologist, and palaeontologist. Also interested in entomology, botany, meteorology, and astronomy. Vicar of Stokesay, Shropshire, 1855–99. Tutored the sons of Joseph Dalton Hooker, John William Colenso, and Friedrich Max Müller, and the nephews of Charles Lyell. Published A hand-book of the geology of Shropshire (1884).
