Dionysius Lardner (1793–1859)

Science writer and public lecturer. BA, Trinity College, Dublin, 1817; LLD, 1827; LLD, Cambridge, 1833. Professor of natural philosophy and astronomy, London University, 1827–31. Edited the Cabinet Cyclopædia, 1829–49. Lectured in the United States and Cuba, 1840–5. Lived in Paris, 1845–59. FRS 1828.
