John Edward Lee (1808–87)

Antiquary and geologist. Travelled widely in Europe. Founder of the Monmouth and Caerleon Antiquarian Society. Wrote on the Roman archaeology of Caerleon and on the archaeology of other places in Europe, and on Roman coins. Fellow of the Geological Society of London. Collected fossils, which he presented to the British Museum (Natural History) in 1885.
