John Claudius Loudon (1783–1843)

Landscape gardener and horticultural writer. Travelled in northern Europe, 1813–15; in France and Italy, 1819–20. Urban and rural landscape designer. A prolific author; founded and edited the Gardener’s Magazine, 1826–43, and the Magazine of Natural History, 1828–36.
