Charles Louis Napoleon (Louis) Bonaparte, Emperor Napoleon III (1808–73)

President of the French Republic, 1848–52. Proclaimed emperor of the French, as Napoleon III, in 1852. Defeated in the war with Prussia in 1870 and deposed, after which he lived in Chislehurst, Kent.
