Benjamin Thompson Lowne (1839–1925)

Surgeon and naturalist. FRCS, LSA, 1873; MD, Durham, 1896. Collected plants in Palestine and Syria, 1863–4. Lecturer, physiology and general anatomy, Middlesex Hospital Medical School, 1871–95; Royal College of Surgeons, 1876–80. Junior surgeon, Great Northern Hospital, 1874–6; ophthalmic surgeon from 1876. Lecturer in botany, Royal Veterinary College, from 1885.
