Rudolph August Birminhold Sebastian (Rudolph) Ludwig (1812–80)

German factory and saltworks inspector and geologist. Worked on the stratigraphy and palaeontology of western Germany and the Upper Palaeozoic of Russia. His most notable work was on molluscs, corals, bryozoans (Polyzoa), crocodiles, and fossil plants.
