John Macarthur (1767–1834)

Lieutenant in the New South Wales corps, 1789; arrived in Sydney in 1790. Captain, 1795–1804. Established a farm at Parramatta, where he introduced merino sheep. Cultivated vines and olives at Camden, New South Wales. A member of the first legislative council of New South Wales, 1825–31.
