Henry Longueville Mansel (1820–71)

Metaphysician. Tutor, St John’s College, Oxford, from 1843. Elected reader in moral and metaphysical theology, Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1855; ‘professor fellow’ of St John’s, 1864. Appointed professor of ecclesiastical history, Oxford, in 1866.
