Gideon Algernon Mantell (1790–1852)

Surgeon, geologist, and palaeontologist. Scientific lecturer and author. Made noted collections of invertebrate and dinosaur fossils. Secretary, Geological Society of London, 1841–2; vice-president, 1848–9. FRS 1825.
