William Adolf Ludwig (William) Marshall (1845–1907)

German zoologist. Studied in Jena and Göttingen; DPhil., Göttingen, 1871. Assistant at the National Museum of Natural History in Leiden, the Netherlands, 1867–72. Secretary to the grand duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, 1872–9. Assistant in zoology to Rudolf Leuckart, Leipzig, 1877; lecturer, 1880; professor extraordinarius of zoology and comparative anatomy, 1885–1907.
