Arthur Mellersh (1812–94)

Naval officer. Midshipman and mate on HMS Beagle, 1825–36. Served off the coast of Syria, then in command of HMS Rattler in the Burma campaign in 1852. Served off the coast of China in the 1850s, suppressing piracy, and in the Caribbean and South America before retiring in 1864.
