George Brown Murdoch (1836–1906)

Scottish civil engineer. Educated at Glasgow Academy and University. Apprentice to Alexander Doull, surveying in Russia, 1855. Engineer on the construction of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway, 1858–65. Associate member, Institute of Civil Engineers, 1867. From 1871, worked in Australia on several railway lines; consulting engineer, Sydney, 1886–92. Retired to Edinburgh.
