William Nation (1826–1907)

Botanist. Kew gardener, 1848. Travelled to Peru in 1850, first exploring the Amazon, then employed by José Rufino Echenique (1808–87), when he was president of Peru. Taught English and Latin and made extensive botanical and zoological collections. Professor at Guadeloupe College, Lima, from 1862. Died in Clapham, England.
