Edmund Alexander Parkes (1819–76)

Physician and author of works on tropical diseases. Served as assistant surgeon in India, 1842–5. Special professor of clinical medicine at University College, London, and physician to the University College Hospital, 1849. Professor of military hygiene at the Army Medical School at Chatham, 1860. FRS 1861.
