Louis-Constant Prévost (1787–1856)

French geologist. Studied the geology of France and Austria. Collaborated with Charles Lyell in comparing the Tertiary and Secondary strata on both sides of the English Channel, 1823–4. A founder of the Société géologique de France, 1830; president, 1834, 1839, and 1851. Professor of geology, the Sorbonne, 1831.
