John Medows Rodwell (1808–1900)
Clergyman and orientalist. BA, Cambridge (Gonville and Caius College), 1830. Friend and contemporary of CD’s at Cambridge. Rector of St Peter’s, Saffron Hill, London, 1836–43; of St Ethelburga’s, Bishopsgate, 1843–1900. Commenced oriental studies as a young man. Published an English version of the Koran in 1861.
