Juan Manuel de Rosas (1793–1877)

Argentinian dictator. Governor of Buenos Aires, 1829–32 and 1835–52; ruled as dictator of Argentina. After his overthrow in 1852, he took refuge in England and lived at Swaythling, near Southampton, till his death.
