Clergyman and botanist. Perpetual curate of Apethorpe and Wood Newton, Northamptonshire, 1833–68. Vicar of Sibbertoft, Northamptonshire, from 1868. Editor of the Journal of the Royal Horticultural Society, 1866–77. An expert on British fungi; described fungi from CD’s Beagle voyage. Royal Society of London Royal Medallist, 1863. FRS 1879.
