George Augustus Rowell (1804–92)

Meteorologist. Worked as a cabinetmaker and paper-hanger before gaining a position at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Assistant in the natural history department, Oxford University Museum, from 1860. Published letters and papers on meteorological subjects.
