George Sim (1835–1908)

Scottish taxidermist. Apprenticed to a tailor, 1848; later worked as a journeyman tailor, and as a druggist. Trained as a taxidermist in Edinburgh, and opened a business in Aberdeen in 1862; also sold antiquarian articles. Collected fish and crustaceans and published on them in the Transactions of the Aberdeen Natural History Society. Made a study of the larger fauna of the Aberdeen district. Published The vertebrate fauna of Dee, including the fishes of the east coast from Wick to Firth of Forth (1903). Associate of the Linnean Society of London, 1886.
