Robert Brough Smyth (1830–89)

Mining engineer. Emigrated to Victoria, Australia, in 1852. Secretary, Board of Mines, 1860; honorary secretary, Board for the Protection of Aborigines, 1860; director of the geological survey of Victoria, 1871–6. Fellow of the Linnean Society of London, 1874.
