Alfred Swaine Taylor (1806–80)

Medical jurist. Professor of medical jurisprudence, Guy’s Hospital, London, 1831–77. Appointed joint lecturer on chemistry at Guy’s, 1832; held the post alone from 1851 to 1870. Often a witness in trials involving suspected murder by poisoning; engaged in the case of William Palmer, the Rugeley poisoner.
