Gustave Adolphe Thuret (1817–75)
French botanist. Lawyer and attaché in Constantinople, 1840. Gave up his diplomatic career to devote himself to botanical research. Published a number of papers on the seaweed genus Fucus. Resided in Cherbourg, 1852–6, and later at Cap d’Antibes on the Mediterranean in order to carry out research on living algae.
