Martin Farquhar Tupper (1810–89)

Poet and writer. BA, Oxford (Christ Church), 1832. Called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn, 1835. Published a book of aphorisms, Proverbial philosophy (1838), which went through numerous editions and translations in most European languages.
