William Thomas Blanford (1832–1905)

Geologist and zoologist. Worked in his family business as a carver and gilder. Studied at the Royal School of Mines, 1852–4. Worked for the geological survey of India, 1854–82. Visited Sikkim with Henry John Elwes in 1870. FRS 1874.
