Charles Walter (1831–1907)

Australian photographer, botanist, and journalist of German descent. Emigrated to Victoria, Australia, in 1856; employed as a plant collector by Ferdinand von Mueller. First Australian photojournalist; much of his work recorded local Aboriginal people.
