Horace Hayman Wilson (1786–1860)

Orientalist. Assay-master at the Calcutta mint, 1811–19. Appointed secretary of the Asiatic Society of Bengal in 1811. Boden professor of Sanskrit, Oxford University, 1832–60. Librarian to the East India Company, 1836–60. Director of the Royal Asiatic Society of London, 1837–60. FRS 1834.
