William Withering (1741–99)

Physician, botanist, and mineralogist. MD, Edinburgh, 1766. Practised medicine in Stafford and, after information from Erasmus Darwin, in Birmingham from 1775. Chief physician to the Birmingham General Hospital, 1775–88.
