Samuel Pickworth Woodward (1821–65)

Naturalist. Subcurator, Geological Society of London, 1839–45. Professor of botany and natural history at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, 1845–7. First-class assistant in the department of geology and mineralogy, British Museum, 1848–65. Awarded an honorary PhD by the University of Göttingen, 1864.
