Johann Ludwig Christ (1739–1813)

German theologian, pomologist, and beekeeper. Studied theology and natural science in Tübingen, Erlangen, and Altdorf from 1758. Priest, 1764. Kept bees and owned two tree nurseries. Classified fruit varieties systematically and was a forerunner of scientific pomology.
